This is a great option for the people that need free podcast editing software, although it may not be the easiest to use. Audacity allows for multi-track editing and can remove background noise, and it works on every operating system. Audacity is a free open-source product that does a great job with audio editing, handling pretty much all files with ease. However, you may still require some free plugins to process the audio file you work with, and to get access to some of the functions for more advanced tasks requires paid plugins that may not necessarily resolve the issue. In particular, Audacity doesn’t seem to have a seamless solution to remove echo, and many of the various help documents seem to suggest that a paid plugin would resolve this issue; none of them work.
